As fun as it can be to wrap up your loved ones' Christmas presents and display them beneath the tree, this can also be a nerve-wracking time for those with nosy family members. Although you may well try to be subtle, they'll always be one person sneaking a look at the labels, trying to figure out what surprises are in store.
This is of course particularly true for children, who will by this point be reaching fever-pitch levels of excitement. Luckily, there are ways to counteract their curious poking and shaking ahead of Christmas morning, as demonstrated by one savvy mum.
Taking to TikTok, mum-of-four Kerri Webster has revealed what she does to stop her children from guessing which Christmas presents are theirs, and her technique can be easily copied.
The super-organised single mum, who goes by the TikTok username @kez_webster_x, shared a video of her beautifully wrapped presents piled up and ready beneath the tree, each one labelled with a different number.
Explaining her clever system, Kerri said: "When the kids wanna hunt for their presents under the tree (kids know Santa brings his own btw) BUT ... you have numbered all the gifts and hidden the list. Unlucky!!!"
The caption of the video, which has been viewed more than 3700 times, reads, "When the kids can't see whose presents are whose", with two laughing-out-loud emojis signalling Kerri's amusement.
At this time of year, advice comes thick and fast, and this handy hack comes after Polly Shearer, interiors expert at Drench, advised boiling cinnamon sticks to mask the smell of unpleasant Christmas cooking smells.
According to Polly: "Cinnamon is the second most popular air freshener scent this year that we have discovered, so by making your own you'll be saving money by using something you might already have in the cupboard.
"Boil a few sticks of cinnamon for around five minutes and then leave to cool. You can leave this on your kitchen counter all day to help combat those food smells."
