Plumes of thick black smoke when cooking can be a sure fire sign that it's time to clean your oven.
After all, not only is a dirty oven a fire hazard in itself, but the charred and burnt bits of leftover food can tarnish the taste of whatever you're trying to whip up.
And while many of us will spend hours scrubbing away at the appliance, it's easy to forget about the racks which sit inside - which can also become covered in char over time.

The Mirror reports that while cleaning these racks can be a daunting task, which sometimes takes up a considerable amount of time, one cleaning influencer has a top tip to leave trays 'sparkling' without the need for 'heavy scrubbing'. Mum Chantel Mila - who boasts more than one million followers on TikTok account @mama_mila_ - shared a video demonstrating the method first-hand.
And it's racked up more than 25,000 views to date.
The TikToker explained: "If you're like me and hate cleaning oven racks then this hack will save you so much scrubbing. Lay an old towel down in your bathtub and soak your oven racks in hot water.
"Add one scoop of laundry powder and leave to soak it overnight. In the morning, the burn or mess just flakes off with a wipe and you're left with shining oven racks."
And that's it - it's really that simple! To avoid getting your bathtub dirty, Chantel advises people to line the bottom of their bath with a dirty towel to catch any mess or flakiness.
Captioning the post, Chantel explained further: "The trick to cleaning your oven racks without heavy scrubbing.
"This trick saves so much time - just make sure to line your bathtub with an old towel to avoid your bathtub getting dirty."
Chantel's insightful advice has left TikTok users admitting they're keen on giving the cleaning hack a try first-hand. Taking to the comment section, one person wrote: "Necessary - need to do this after the holidays!"
