Mum shares brilliant towel trick that cuts the amount of washing you have to do

A mum has shared her clever hack that will help you cut down on washing and, of course, that all important energy bill.

Taking to the Facebook group Money saving hints, tips and ideas, the woman said she was initially given the tip by one of her friends at work.

She said: "My girls were at the stage where they were showering every day and using a clean towel every time, I couldn't keep up with the washing."

"A friend said she'd had the same issue with her boys as they were at the gym every day, so she bought them their own distinctive towels.

"She told them after a shower to hang them up in their own rooms and to reuse them for a few days as they would only have been used by them. Then she just put nice hand towels in the bathroom," reports RSVP.

"I tried it and it worked a treat, I actually follow the same process myself now and my washing has reduced dramatically."

She added that allowing your teenagers to choose their own towels in the shop could help encourage them not to use a different towel every time they shower.

Members of the group flooded to the comments to thank her for sharing the tip, with many chiming that they themselves do the same in their own homes.

"Been doing this for years!" one said. "I'm pink, husband is light grey, daughter is white, sons are different shades of grey."

"I have my 24 year old son at home and this is exactly what we do. In the summer put them outside in the line to freshen. Only wash towels once a week," another agreed.

A third added: "I grew up as a farm kid with four brothers. We all had our own towel with our names embroidered on it. You learned to take care of your towel."
