A mum has credited her mother's instinct for saving her unborn baby's life after she rushed to hospital convinced something was wrong despite there being no warning signs.

43-year-old Jemma Austin had a gut feeling that something wasn't right when she was 22 weeks pregnant, Daily Star Sunday reports.

And after insisting doctors check her over - they discovered her cervix was open.
