A mum has issued a warning to parents across the UK after her son was left with burns on his face from a dangerous plant. Kimberley Walker believes her son came into contact with a Giant Hogweed plant outside his school in Staffordshire, when he was allowed to go and retrieve a football from outside the school grounds.
Kimberley told StokeonTrentLive that her son didn't feel anything until he woke up the next morning with a burn on his hand. She took him him to A&E, but says she was initially told that it was a 'nettle sting'.
However, three more burns have since appeared on her son's face and he is now under the treatment of a plastic surgeon at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. Kimberley is now speaking out to raise awareness of the dangers of the seemingly innocuous plant, which causes reactions when it comes into contact with human skin.
