A mum is hoping her baby son will soon be united with his family after he spent the first year of his life in hospital. Rowan-George Woodruff, one, was born with a atresia, a condition in his throat which means he has barely left the building.
He had a tracheotomy soon after birth - which medics say needs constant monitoring. But this has meant the tot has spent most of his life in Manchester Children's Hospital - although he was allowed home for Christmas.
The hospital says the youngster needs two to one care at all times but that they are working towards discharging him. But mum-of-two Ashleigh Bamber, 28, says that she wants her boy home with her in Preston right now - describing the last year as "absolute hell".
