Mum's incredible 'bargain' M&S family shop for just £59 with £4 lamb shanks leaves shoppers stunned

Shoppers are often on the hunt for the best bargain available to them, especially if their weekly shop is to feed a whole family. A popular supermarket for bargain shopping is Aldi - and then there's Lidl which also offers competitive deals.

On what is often considered to be the more expensive side of things, you'll find Mars & Spencer and Waitrose. However, as reported by the Mirror, one shopper went to M&S to document a food shop and couldn't believe the bargains that they encountered.

A full haul put the woman back just £59 and included lamb shanks and Colin the Caterpillars. The 26-year-old shared the results of her shop to social media, where she revealed that she was also able to pick up a fabric conditioner bottle for £3.50, surface wipes and stain remover for just £1 per pack, and a box of 23 nappies that cost £3.

The TikTok user, Amelia Jayde, said: "I literally cannot get over what I got for my money in Marks and Spencer."

Posting onto her @amejay_xo account, the savvy shopper found a pack of two lamb shanks that had been reduced, originally costing £12.16 but were now down to an unbelievable £4.86. Amelia also bought chicken legs for £1.20, chicken wings for £1.20 and mince for £2.

The experts at Which? named Aldi as cheapest supermarket in January, with a basket costing £82.03 - but M&S was not included in the rankings. Some shoppers responding to Amelia's video believed that other shops' rising prices due to inflation is making M&S a more cost-effective option.

"Honestly I am shocked!!!! Not even £60," read the caption in the now-viral clip, which has more than 120,000 views. Other shoppers shared their experience in the comments with one saying: "With inflation, M&S is better value than anywhere else!"

"I always tell people to shop there," added another M&S fan, while a third said: "When we think M&S we think 'posh rich folk' but M&S is the reason the rich stay rich it’s almost always cheaper than Aldi and Lidl."
