A mum thought her headaches were caused by brain tumours until she "couldn't read".
Madi Ruby, 50, had her first tumour - a 6cm meningioma, which are mostly benign - removed from her brain in her early 20s, just after leaving university. Two decades later, in 2013, the counsellor and lecturer started experiencing "excruciating" headaches, numbness and nausea.
She told the ECHO: "I'd been sick when I was on holiday [in Cyprus] and had terrible headaches on the plane back. My then very young son said to me, 'You need to go to a doctor, you don't look very well, you look like you're dying', so I thought, 'Okay, I'd better do that'."
