The heartbroken mum of an eight-year-old boy who died on holiday in Barbados has paid tribute to her beloved son.
Amber Field said of her boy Ace Rewcastle, who died yesterday: “You are my whole existence and I will love and remember you until my last breath.”
Ace, from Portsmouth, Hants, was happy and healthy when he arrived on the island for what was meant to be a dream holiday last week.
But on January 3, he suddenly fell ill and scans showed he had acute myeloid leukaemia.
The youngster also had a massive bleed on the brain and never regained consciousness after a seizure on January 8.
Amber, 30, said: “Ace is now resting. Goodnight Acey Pops. Give nanny Pat a big cuddle from me and let’s get you home my darling baby.”
Close family friend Terri Shipp, 31, started a GoFundMe page after Amber discovered their travel insurance did not cover medical bills.
It has since raised more than £115,000.
She said: “Acey’s mother is truly devastated. Her whole life has fallen apart. No one ever expects to go on holiday with their child and come home without them.”
Penny Mordaunt, MP for Portsmouth North, tweeted her condolences.
