Mum-of-three died on daughter's 10th birthday after horror fall on family waterfall walk

A mum-of-three died on her daughter's 10th birthday after falling down steps while on a family walk to a waterfall beauty spot, an inquest heard.

Businesswoman Carly Farrington, 40, had travelled from her home in Bristol to visit a beauty spot area of the Brecon Beacons when the tragedy happened.

She was with her family, including three children, when she slipped on loose ground on some steps and "screamed" her fiancee's name.

She landed 10 to 15 metres from where she fell and suffered devastating injuries on the "Four Waterfalls Walk" near Ystradfellte.

Carly - who ran her own estate agent business called Carly & Co - was flown by helicopter to University Hospital Wales, Cardiff, but died two days later on May 17 last year.

Her partner Joshua said the group were descending a steep section of path when Carly slipped.

He wrote online: "I glanced back when I heard Carly screaming my name as she slipped on loose ground to the waterfall below.

"My daughters didn’t see her fall but were haunted by my reaction. I got them tucked into the hill before I ran down to find Carly unresponsive and with significant injuries to her body and head.

"The air ambulance and coastguard were called, and my sister and I carried my kids off the hill.

"Once I got them back to safety back home, I spent two days in Cardiff hospital with Carly on life support. I asked the chaplain to marry us but she never regained consciousness and a ceremony couldn’t be conducted."
