Mum of Scots teen stabbed to death with scissors at party screams 'Happy 18th Sean' during skydive

The mum of a Scots teenager stabbed to death with scissors at a party shouted "Happy 18th, Sean" as she jumped out of a plane to mark his birthday for a knife crime charity.

Sean Ford was just 15 when he was stabbed in the neck by Connor McMath, 21, in an unprovoked attack at a flat in Wishaw on March 7, 2020. McMath was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 15 years at the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted of Sean's murder.

Mum Kellyann Berry, 37, and eldest son Aidan, 19, wanted to remember Sean by skydiving in his name on what would have been his 18th birthday, to raise cash for knife crime charity Steel Warriors.

The grieving mum told the Record it was a fitting tribute to her brilliant boy who was loved by so many.

Kellyann said: "We did our skydive at Sky High skydiving in Durham.

"I shouted 'Happy Birthday, Sean Ford' during it and you can hear it on video so I am so glad I did that.

"Sean will be up there buckled at me. I will always remember doing this for his 18th - that's why I wanted to do a skydive as it was something different and Sean would have loved it. It was a fitting tribute to him.

"We had an amazing experience and made sure it was a day we would never forget for Sean's 18th birthday."

Kellyann and Aidan were watched by family and some of Sean's friends as they jumped from 10,000ft on July 23.

Despite being petrified of heights, Kellyann said her fear disappeared as she made the jump and described it as an incredible experience.

The pair have now raised over £800 for London based charity Steel Warriors who melt down knives taken off the streets and recycle the steel into outdoor street gyms.

Kellyann added: "We chose to do this in Sean's name for an amazing charity who take knives off of our streets.

"They take these dangerous weapons and create a different environment that will encourage people to look after themselves and not get into trouble.

"I just find this amazing. I'm glad we managed to find them."

The fundraising page for Steel Warriors will remain open for one week and donations can be made by clicking here.
