The mother of RTE Toy Show star Saoirse Ruane has shared positive news to their Instagram account in relation to the young girl’s cancer treatment.
“Saoirse wrapped her arms around us with excitement,” the post said.
Nine-year-old Saoirse Ruane, who joined Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Toy Show back in 2020, had been undergoing treatment after it was discovered that her cancer had returned.
She recently underwent surgery to remove a tumour on her lung as part of her treatment, with her mam, Roseanna, sharing on their Instagram account that this week brought “welcome news”.
Under a photo of Saoirse, the caption read: “Following a call from our oncologist we learned that Saoírse’s surgery was successful and no further treatment is required, which is the best outcome we could have hoped for.
“Saoírse wrapped her arms around us with excitement.”
Roseanna said on the post that although cancer is “incredibly unpredictable”, the plan going forward is that her team will review and monitor Saoirse’s progress “carefully”.
She also said that the “real miracle” was that Saoirse’s team decided to go ahead with the surgery, as it wasn’t an option at one point. The family of four are “forever grateful” and indebted to the team for their work.
Since the surgery in Crumlin hospital two weeks ago, Saoirse is making progress.
The Instagram post said: “Even though she may not be back on the camogie pitch for quite some time, she is adamant to head back to school before the summer holidays!”
Towards the end of the post, Roseanna wrote: “Please know that while this is an amazing victory, we have to be realistic!
“Saoirse may have won this battle but she hasn’t won the war, so we go forward now and hope that you will all continue to keep Saoirse in your hearts and prayers.”
