A family-of-ten from Stockport has been left devastated after a fire destroyed their home the day before they were due to move in. Hester and Nathan Hadfield had been living in a house with six of the family all sleeping in one room before they managed to get a bigger council home in South Reddish.
After working for weeks to renovate the four-bedroom house, a fire destroyed their home whilst they were out at a concert on July 5. Mother-of-eight Hester, whose children are aged between one and 17, said she has been left heartbroken by the blaze.
She told the MEN: “We spent eight weeks - day and night - doing up the house and making it right for us. We had literally just left the property after putting on the kid’s bedding when we got a phone call to say the fire brigade were at our house.
