A mum-of-eight has revealed the struggles and harsh reality of feeding a family during the cost of living crisis, saying that they have been living off beans on toast for tea. Pam Booth, 51, has opened up about how she has struggled to keep on top of bills and provide for her family while studying to become a teaching assistant.
The mum has been visiting the foodbank at her local church and says if she didn’t go there her family “wouldn’t be able to eat”. Her children are aged eight, 13, 15, 17, 21, 23, 27 and 29.
The four youngest children are still living at home with Pam, who also has to provide for her pet chihuahua and her daughter’s Staffordshire bull terrier. Pam and her children, from Seacroft, Leeds, have been visiting the foodbank for about four months.
