Mum left in stitches when loyalty card brands her a 'Miss A Hole'

A mum was left in stitches after receiving a store loyalty card emblazoned with 'Miss A Hole' - as a shop assistant apparently misheard her saying her name at the till. Kate Hall visited Lakeland in Llanelli after taking her four-year-old daughter Poppy for an eye test nearby.

The mum-of-three then decided to pop into the kitchenware store and picked up some Tupperware for Poppy and her two sons Alfie, nine, and seven-year-old Ellis. While at the till, the shop assistant asked if she'd like to join the store's loyalty scheme and tapped in the details, including her name, as Kate told her.

But when the card arrived in the post two weeks later, personal trainer Kate burst out laughing when she saw the letter and loyalty card addressed to 'Miss A Hole'. Lakeland said that "in a busy store environment" a member of staff misheard Kate when registering her information and that they're now arranging an update to her details.

Kate, from Llanelli, said: "It came through the door and I just laughed as soon as I looked at it. It's not even just on the letter - it's on the back of the plastic card as well.

"I think I'll put it in the see-through part of my purse instead of my driver's licence. The shop assistant's gone completely off track with everything. I don't know if it's down to my Welsh accent because she was also Welsh.

"She went through the usual things - 'are you Miss or Mrs?' and I said Mrs. 'First initial?' and I said 'K'. Then she asked for my surname and I said 'Hall' and I always spell out my surname because companies have misheard my name on the phone before.

"She put the details into the computer then gave me a temporary card and said my official card would come through the post. You'd think that she would've thought it was odd at the time. So for two weeks, I was blissfully unaware that as far as Lakeland thought, my name is 'Miss A Hole'."

Fitness fanatic Kate said that while she imagined some would be offended by the mishap, she shared it with friends and family, who joked about what she'd done to deserve her new name.

Kate said: "Everyone found it quite hilarious. One of my friends said: 'Were you just a bitch in the shop?' I was only buying Tupperware. My family joked it was either some form of passive aggression or the woman completely misunderstood it and was oblivious to the fact she'd put 'A Hole'.

"Maybe the music was too loud in there or she wasn't paying enough attention but either way I had a good giggle looking at it. You have to treat these things with a sense of humour but I imagine some people would be quite offended. It's a bit of a badge of honour and a funny thing to tell people. I might as well keep it until it expires."

A Lakeland spokesman said: "In a busy store environment our store colleague misheard our customer when registering them for our my Lakeland club. Our customer service team were quick to pick up Miss Hall’s tweet and have contacted her to arrange an update to her details. We’d like to thank Miss Hall for her understanding and good humour."
