A mum spoke of her fury after her children's usual lessons were cancelled so pupils could watch England beat Iran in the World Cup opener. Her GCSE student daughter and her son missed 'crucial' teaching, said the 42-year-old.
As reported by Stoke-on-Trent Live, the woman, who lives in Blurton in Stoke-on-Trent and wants to remain anonymous, said the school was pandering to pupils who would have played truant to watch the game. "Do parents know this is happening?" she said.
"The school goes on about missing education all the time but then it’s pandering to the students that are threatening to be off school. It’s very wrong. I’m so infuriated by it.
