Mum hits back at cruel trolls slamming her for 'strange' and 'awful' baby name

Choosing a unique name for your little one has the potential to bring unwanted and sometimes cruel opinions. After deciding on a moniker for her baby daughter, a woman has hit back at trolls claiming that the name is 'very strange' and 'awful'.

Taking to popular forum mumsnet, the pregnant woman originally sought advice for a middle name to accompany the name chosen for her little girl. However, things quickly turned sour when people slammed the choice altogether.

Hitting back at the trolls, the mum turned her nose up at the 'unhelpful comments'. Captioning the post, the mum-to-be wrote: "Middle name for Hero."

The woman explained: "Expecting a baby girl and we've decided on first name Hero. Our other children have unusual but not unheard of names with more traditional middle names but struggling to find a name that flows nicely with Hero

"Our first mn pick was Emilia but gone off it a little now, any suggestions? Our last name is rare but not 'weird' or able to be turned into a joke, and begins with an S."

Since sharing, the woman's post has raked in a variety of mixed responses.

Flocking to the comments, one person wrote: "Hero is bad enough but Hero for a girl is rubbish."

Hitting back, the mum responded: "Thanks for this unhelpful comment with a name I wasn't asking anyone's opinion on."

Alongside the one hurtful comment, several more flooded in, with another person saying: "Hero is awful. Is it a name for a girl. Very strange indeed."

"Not a fan of hero for a girl either. Hera perhaps if you like that sound (though she wasn't the nicest of goddesses)," another agreed.

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "I'd concentrate on the first name first and then the middle name."

The mum defended her decision, as she wrote: "The first name isn't up for discussion really, we've chosen it. A traditional middle name is what we’re looking for, to match our other children's middle names."

On the other hand, a Mumsnet user was keen on the name, saying: "I think Hero is nice! You could stick with the Shakespearean theme - Hero Helena sounds nice."
