Mum heartbroken after boy, 13, offers to get job to help with soaring living costs

A young boy left his mum "heartbroken" after he offered to get a job to help her with crippling mortgage costs.

Single mum Lizzie Devine, 37, initially had a mortgage rate of 4.88 per cent with payments of £584, but that has now risen to 5.38 per cent, rmeaning her monthly payments have jumped to £648.

She first took out a mortgage with her ex-partner in 2007 with Northern Rock, who went bust later that same year, and her attempts to remortgage were rejected as she was deemed "a risk" because she had a child, who is now 13.
