A local hero been praised for showing the reality of life below the poverty line after a mum-of-two revealed she has "no gas, no carpet, no oven, no heating or hot water".
Pride of Manchester winner James Anderson, who helps provide free or heavily-subsidised services to help keep people warm, was "appalled" to see the conditions mum-of-two Katie had been living in.
The family, who agreed to be pictured, live in a rented flat in Burnley, can't afford gas, have minimal electricity, no carpet, not heating or hot water and no functioning oven, Manchester Evening News reported.
