Mum does 'double take' after spotting seal pup in potato peelings while prepping lunch

Have you ever been going about your business, and noticed that in your food, or in nature, there's something that looks distinctly like something else? For example, the woman who was convinced that the face of Jesus was staring back at her from her Domino's pizza box, or the woman who claimed that she could see the face of William Shakespeare in her spotlight.

Well, one woman made a much more adorable discovery when she was peeling potatoes for her family's dinner on Easter Sunday. The mum had to "double take" when she came face to face with a seal pup in the peelings.

She was shocked when she saw the adorable seal pup staring at her (Corinne Dolman / SWNS)

Corinne Dolman, 40, was peeling spuds for her family's dinner on Easter Sunday when she spotted the uncanny resemblance.

The potato appears to have the cute pleading eyes and adorable nose of a seal pup.

Corinne, from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, said: "It was Easter Sunday I was up early prepping for Easter lunch before the kids got up - as I was still half asleep I did do a double take as I noticed it on the pile.

"I actually took the photo to show my husband as it made me laugh how much it looked like a seal and I do like a bit of nonsense.

"The potatoes were from Tesco in Bedworth and were destined to be roasties but it would have been more apt for Jesus to appear in my Easter spuds."

She then decided to share the photo on Facebook to "raise a smile or two", and it's done just that as over 97,000 people have reacted to it, with over 2,000 comments.

One person commented: "I was scrolling and it stopped me in my tracks. I had to zoom in... wow!"

Another suggested Corrine "preserve" the peeling as it was "so cute."
