A mum of three who has lived in her Victorian home for 13 years has decorated every room from scratch.
Leah Tomprefa, 43, told the ECHO she "knew" the 1850s property in Liverpool was her "forever home" and has taken her time on the project. She said: "It’s in a location we always wanted to live in. When we bought the house it had all the rooms we wanted and ticked all the boxes.
"We wanted a period property and it’s rare to find a period property that doesn’t need work. We wanted this area, so when our house came on the market with all the rooms we needed in the location we wanted we were prepared to do work to make it how we wanted."

Leah has worked hard to maintain the Victorian charm of the house: "These are what attracted us to the house in the first place," she said. "The original fire place, coving, shutters and panelling. All my favourite parts of the house."
Guests are welcomed through a tiled vestibule with stunning stained glass windows, while the hall features a statement polished staircase with wrought iron spindles. The open plan living and dining space has a sage green kitchen with a central island at its heart.
And while the period charm steals the show, Leah's proudest moment was completing the overhaul of the basement to create a bar and games room.

It is now a vast underground expanse for the whole family to enjoy. The bar area is panelled in a rich navy blue with a mirrored wall and stylish stools that look like they've been plucked straight from your favourite city centre cocktail haunt.
The wine storage is under the stairs, making smart use of the space available, and the area also includes an additional lounge, air hockey table and a cinema room.
Leah told the ECHO trying the get the work done during lockdown was a "challenge". Major works included digging to underpin the house, the creation of new foundations and the installation of a WC.
"Getting hold of materials was an issue, also very frustrating as we were so close the the finish when we had to put it on hold. We got there eventually and I’d say the finish was our proudest moment. Just a shame once it was finished no one was allowed in due to covid!"
Despite her hard work, another renovation may not be on the cards for Leah: "I have three boys and have been pregnant through the bigger projects. So I’ve hated the disruption - and dust - renovation brings. If we did ever downsize I think it would have to be pretty perfect with minimum work required."
