Mum baffled after 'random' woman dumps 'terrified rabbits' in her garden

A mum is baffled after coming home to discover a "random woman" had dumped two "terrified rabbits" in her garden.

The mum's sons are now eager to keep the animals, though have been "fighting" over what to name them. The mum is unimpressed with the woman's behaviour, which she has captured on CCTV, and has asked if it would be wrong to "name and shame" by posting the footage of her on Facebook.

Taking to Mumsnet's popular Am I Being Unreasonable [AIBU] thread, the mum sought advice with a post titled "[AIBU] To "name and shame" her on Facebook", and penned: "I've come home to 2 terrified rabbits sitting in a cage in my garden. The b****y things were surrounded by the billion cats that live here who are fascinated.

"I've relocated them to a very old rickety hutch from when we had rabbits a million years ago and chucked them some hay, carrots and water and told the DSs [dear sons] at least 72 times that we are not keeping them whilst they fight over names. CCTV shows a woman dropping them over the gate. She obviously didn't realise I've got CCTV and I have a nice clear view of her face.

"I mean I clearly won't be returning the rabbits but WIBU [would I be unreasonable] to stick her on Facebook in a "what the hell were you doing" post?"

The mum's post was met with a string of responses from Mumsnet users keen to share their thoughts. One asked: "So a random woman left 2 rabbits in a cage in your garden?"

Another suggested: "They may have escaped and she thought she was doing a 'good turn' by popping them back? Shaming people on Facebook is a bit extreme isn't it? Can't we just get annoyed privately these days?"

A third said: "I wouldn't start with Facebook, I'd get advice from the RSPCA or police first. Facebook will just start a witch hunt and lead nowhere. Also, congratulations to your DS's [dear sons] on their new rabbits!"

Another Mumsnet user said: "I don’t really understand what’s happened here?! An unknown woman just dumped two rabbits in a hutch in your garden? YANBU [you are not being unreasonable] to put the video on FB".

And another commented: "I’d just focus on getting them re homed unless they are in neglected health I’m not sure what outcome you’d get from naming and shaming on Facebook. Phone rspca ask them to take the rabbits and offer them the CCTV footage. I don’t really have much time for people who get into the whole name and shame s*** on Facebook".

In a follow up comment, the mum answered some of the questions raised by her fellow Mumsnet users, adding: "that is a fair point. But then she'd have had to have a cage on her to leave them in? Possible I suppose. I could get annoyed privately that's true but I'm in a general strop for other reasons with people dumping stuff around so it's moved me from irritated to irate and it's just like WTF. Accept its not crime of the century though".

At the time of writing, 90% of Mumsnet users voted the mum was not being unreasonable to possibly name and shame the woman on Facebook.
