Mum’s beach warning this summer following son’s tragic death

The mother of a teenager who tragically drowned in a "fierce" rip current at Bournemouth beach, an incident that also claimed the life of a 12-year-old girl, has joined forces with her son's best friend to endorse Coastguard advice on sea safety this summer.

Joe Abbess, 17, from Southampton, Hampshire, and Sunnah Khan, 12, from High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, died during the incident at the Dorset seaside resort on 31 May, 2023.
