Multiple new Lord Of The Rings films are set to be released over the next few years, it has been confirmed.
According to Warner Bros chief executive David Zaslav, fans of the franchise can get excited for more installments of the series.
The original films starred well-known faces such as Sir Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom and earned about £2.5bn ($3bn) at the box office.
The films also went on to win multiple Oscars, with 2004's The Return of the King winning best film and best director for Peter Jackson.
TV series The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power was released in 2022 on Amazon.
Costing an estimated £800m to make, it follows life in Middle Earth thousands of years before the books and films are set.
Work on the second series started in October last year.
Swedish gaming company Embracer Group bought the adaptive rights to author JRR Tolkien's work last year which included Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.
This means that if any film, game or merchandise deal is struck then they will gain revenue from it and have to be included in the development process.
In a statement to Variety, Peter Jackson and his collaborators Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens said Embracer and Warner Bros had "kept us in the loop every step of the way" about potential new films.
They said: "We look forward to speaking with them further to hear their vision for the franchise moving forward."
Lee Guinchard, who runs Embracer, said that he and the company are "thrilled" to be working with Warner Bros and New Line Cinema.
They produced the previous three Lord of the Rings films.
Guinchard said in a statement that the company would be "bringing the incomparable world of JRR Tolkien back to the big screen in new and exciting ways".
It is thought that the new films will cover content from books instead of re-visiting the previously released films.
The first film adaptation of the books was released in 2001.
While, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was released the following year and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King came out in 2003.
