A multi-car smash has sparked traffic chaos on Edinburgh City Bypass this morning.
Police have swarmed the A720 after two cars crashed at around 8am near to Hermiston Gait.
The incident has shut off the busy road triggering delays and diversions.
Emergency services remain at the scene and drivers are being urged to take alternative routes.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8am on Thursday, 20 January, police were called to the A720 near to Hermiston Gait, following a report of a two-car road crash.
"Emergency services remain at the scene and the road is currently closed, with diversions in place.”
Traffic Scotland said: "A road traffic crash on the Edinburgh City Bypass at Lothian burn westbound has left one lane blocked.
"Traffic is queuing back to Lasswade."
