Much-loved east London boutique is closing its doors after 14 years with heartfelt message

A much-loved Shoreditch store has confirmed it will close its doors this month, bringing an end to a 14-year run in east London.

AIDA Shoreditch, known for its curated mix of stylish homeware, fashion, food items and an in-house café, will shut permanently on Friday, January 16. The announcement was shared with customers in an emotional Instagram post, which described the decision as one made with “heartache”.

The independent store is marking its final days with a major closing-down sale, offering discounts of up to 80 per cent across all products.

In a statement posted on social media, a spokesperson for AIDA Shoreditch wrote:

“As this year draws to a close, we have some very sad news to share. After much reflection - and no small amount of heartache - we’ve made the difficult decision to close our beloved family store.

“It’s been an incredible 14-year journey, filled with unforgettable highs, challenging lows, and countless moments we will treasure forever. While this decision hasn’t been easy, the time feels right to close this chapter and embrace whatever new adventures may lie ahead.”

The team confirmed that January will be the shop’s final month of trading and encouraged customers to visit before it closes for good.

“January will be our final month of trading, and we would love for you to join us one last time. To say thank you, we’ll be offering incredible discounts across the store, with up to 80% off all your favourite products.”

The message ended with a note of gratitude to the community that has supported the business since it opened:

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your loyalty, kindness, and support over the years. Building AIDA has been one of the greatest joys of our lives, and we will forever cherish the community and memories that grew around it.”

No specific reason has been given for the closure. The brand’s website is currently offline after a surge in orders, with the team directing customers to shop in-store while it works to restore online services.

Shoreditch’s retail landscape has shifted markedly in recent years, with the closure of long-standing venues such as Boxpark Shoreditch and the disappearance of a number of independent cafés and boutiques, reflecting wider pressures on businesses in the area.
