Muang Thong United picked up their first Thai League 1 victory of the season on Sunday night when they defeated Sukhothai 2-0 at home.
After misses from Weerathep Pomphan and Sardor Mirzaev, the Kirins were finally put ahead in the 50th minute when they were awarded a penalty after Paringya Autapao committed a handball inside the box. Veteran Thailand striker Adisak Kraisorn made no mistake from the spot.
Former champions Muang Thong got their second goal in the 73rd minute when Mirzaev's corner kick was headed into the net by Jesper Nyholm.
Meanwhile, in-form Danilo Alves bagged a brace to give Chonburi their third triumph of the season last night.
Danilo struck twice within the first 22 minutes of the away match and the Sharks had little trouble defending their 2-0 lead against their opponents who are playing in the top league for the first time.
Chonburi now have nine points from four matches while the Warriors only have one point to their credit.
On Saturday night, Chiang Rai United conceded their first loss of the season, going down 2-1 at PT Prachuap.
The defeat ended the Beetles' winning streak in the top flight at three games and gave Prachuap their second victory in four games.
Prachuap netted the first goal shortly after the 30-minute mark through Lossemy Karaboue.
Chiang Rai put on a better show in the second half and equalised in the 55th minute when match referee credited Akkrawin Sawasdee with a goal following a VAR check.
The Killer Wasps grabbed the winner four minutes from time when Apichart Denman sealed three points for the hosts.
Prachuap coach Teerasak Pho-on dedicated the victory to the fans.
"This was a difficult game for our team. We were under considerable pressure after losing two games in a row," said Teerasak.
"Chiang Rai are a strong team, but our players did well.
"The second goal from Apichart Denman, who came on as a substitute, secured three points for us in this game."
Chiang Rai coach Emerson Pereira said after the game: "It's disappointing that we couldn't pick up any point from the match. We had several chances to level the score again but we couldn't. We need to work harder."
In another game on Saturday night, hosts Khon Kaen United opened their account with a 1-0 victory over Lampang.
The win was ensured by a 10th-minute strike from Thawin Butsombat.
