MTV's Geordie Shore cast jet off to Cyprus for new series to silence show 'axe' rumours

Many well known faces from the Geordie Shore cast have jetted out to Cyprus to film the new series, shutting down speculation that the show's days are numbered after 12 years on screen.

Earlier this year, months after its popular reunion series aired, it was reported that MTV were ready to pull the plug on Geordie Shore, after it had been their biggest UK show ever since its launch in 2011.

However, it now looks like, rather than being completely canned, Geordie Shore will take on a format similar to its successful spin-off Geordie OGs, which focuses on the cast's life away from the clubs and bars of Newcastle. Rather than all live together in the famous Geordie Shore house, the show's stars will be filmed in their own homes, as they juggle things like becoming parents, getting married and try and keep on top of their own businesses.

Filming on the new series of Geordie Shore kicked off when the cast gathered for Holly Hagan's baby shower a few months ago and now, after they headed to Portugal on a group holiday last year, cast members have now travelled to Cyprus.

The Geordie Shore stars who are confirmed to have headed off to the sun include newlywed Marnie Simpson and her husband Casey Johnson, Marnie's cousin Sophie Kasaei, Charlotte Crosby, Ricci Guarnaccio, Kyle Christie and originals Jay Gardner and James Tindale.

Chloe Ferry shared her excitement at landing in Cyprus with her Instagram followers, but one person missing is her close friend Nathan Henry, who is still competing to win the Australian version of I'm A Celebrity.
