MSF Treats Hundreds Of Injured In Gaza Conflict

Khan Younis Residential buildings, destroyed in Israeli strikes during the conflict, lie in ruin, in Gaza City

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders, recently responded to a devastating situation in the Nuseirat camp in Gaza. Following an Israeli operation that resulted in the deaths of at least 270 Palestinians and left around 700 wounded, MSF treated numerous severely injured patients, including many children.

According to Gaza health authorities, the medical organization worked tirelessly alongside local medical staff at Al-Aqsa and Nasser hospitals to provide critical care to those in need. An MSF doctor, who chose to remain anonymous, shared the harrowing experience of witnessing the aftermath of the attack.

The doctor, a resident of the Nuseirat camp since 2013, described the chaos and devastation that unfolded during the operation. Recounting three hours of intense fear and terror, the doctor mentioned visiting Al-Awda clinic in Deir al-Balah, where numerous individuals were lying on the ground, some dead and others injured.

The doctor vividly recalled the overwhelming sounds of missiles and explosions, coupled with the screams of people trying to flee the area. The atmosphere was described as apocalyptic, with the constant wail of ambulance sirens adding to the sense of impending doom.

Reflecting on the loss of friends and acquaintances during the tragic event, the doctor expressed profound grief over the long list of individuals who would never be seen again. The emotional toll of the situation was evident in the doctor's words, painting a stark picture of the human cost of conflict.

As MSF continues its vital work in providing medical assistance to those affected by the violence in Gaza, the organization's efforts serve as a beacon of hope amidst the devastation. The commitment of healthcare professionals, both local and international, underscores the importance of humanitarian aid in times of crisis.
