Mrs Hinch fans praise 'game-changing' 95p item for tackling mould with 'no scrubbing'

With temperatures dropping and many of us choosing not to put our heating on as often or as high as we normally would due to our sky-high energy bills, our homes are at risk of becoming breeding grounds for mould.

Mould is more likely to grow in areas that are prone to damp, such as the bathroom, and you may have seen some black spots start to appear in the corner of your shower even when the weather's not as cold as it is now - especially in hard to clean areas such as the silicone sealant around the edges of your shower, bath, or sink.

The good news is that if you do have mould in the sealant around your bathroom, you don't need to panic, as while it might look impossible to remove, fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch - real name Sophie Hinchliffe - have found a "game-changing" product that cleans it up in no time.

Cleaning fans responded to one woman on a Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook who asked for tips for getting mould out of the sealant in her bathroom, and the product that was most recommended was Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster, which is currently just 95p for a 750ml bottle from Wilko.

One person commented: "Astonish is the best mould cleaner, just spray and leave. Wash off later and spray again. It kills spores, fabulous stuff."

While another added: "Easy. Spray with Astonish mould and mildew spray. Leave overnight and rinse off. I do this once a week and it never comes back again."

And a third wrote: "Use the Astonish spray and leave overnight. It's game-changing. You won't believe the difference."

Commenters also praised the spray for being so good you don't need to scrub your surfaces to get the mould off, as one person urged people not to "waste money" on any other mould products.

They posted: "Astonish mould cleaner. Don't waste money on anything else. We sprayed and left and didn't even have to scrub."

But not everyone recommended Astonish's product as the best thing for the job, as some posters also suggested using HG Mould Remover, which is sold on Amazon but is more expensive at £3.94 for a 500ml bottle.

Someone commented: "HG Mould cleaner is fantastic, wouldn't use anything else again after trying everything else."

As someone else agreed, writing: "Definitely recommend HG mould spray. It's brilliant and there's no need to scrub."
