Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Regan has confirmed that there are talks about the show returning for regular episodes but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Rumours have been circulating that the show could return sooner than Christmas with the first proper series since 2013.
But the actor who plays Winnie has said that nothing been confirmed but it is a possibility.
Speaking on Ireland AM she said: "There are mumblings of another four episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys itself but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.
"If it happens I’ll get very excited, but if it doesn’t happen I won’t be upset."
It was previously reported that the cast would begin filming in April but Eilish appeared to confirm that nothing concrete has happened yet.
The show came surging back in popularity this year with the recent December 25 show – Mammy’s Mechanical Merriment – attracting 526,000 fans on RTE
However, the second instalment on New Year’s Day – Mammy’s Mickey – was not as popular, with 414,000 viewers on the night.
