Mrs Brown’s Boys star Fiona O’Carroll has told how she hired a male au pair as a “big brother” for her kids following her split from ex-husband Martin Delaney.
The actress, who plays Maria Brown on the hit sitcom, last year revealed she and co-star Martin, who plays Trevor Brown, had split up three years ago.
The former couple are parents to four boys – Felix, 14, Eli, 12, Isaac, 7, and six-year-old Dexter.

Since Covid restrictions have ended, Fiona has been kept busy with various acting jobs. Not only is she getting ready to tour with her father Brendan O’Carroll and other family members for the Mrs Brown’s Boys live shows, she will also appear in Copper Face Jacks: The Musical in Dublin later on this summer.
Fiona will also be filming the Mrs Brown’s Boys Christmas specials.
She told Ireland AM: “It’s been a struggle, especially with the boys because they’re very much into routine, you have to try to stick to it. I’ve been really lucky to have good au pairs over the years.
“During lockdown, I got a fabulous au pair called Franco. Everyone looks at me and goes, ‘You have a male au pair?’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah of course I do because I’ve got four boys’. My ex-husband now lives in Portugal so I thought it’d be good for them to have a big brother influence in the house – you know someone to cut the grass or help me around a little bit.
“He has been absolutely amazing and now I have another au pair called Itor.”
