Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Carroll confirms date for filming of four new episodes

Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Carroll has confirmed that four new episodes of the sitcom are being filmed in the coming weeks.

A decade has passed since the TV series ended but fans have been treated to a movie, live episode and Christmas specials over the years. Last year it was confirmed that the mini-series was on its way but viewers have been left wondering when they can expect to see it on their screens.

Speaking exclusively to Dublin Live, Eilish, who plays Winnie McGoogan in the series, said that the cast will begin recording the new episodes in April and she expects them to be released later this year.

"I'm actually going to the UK on the 18 of April until the 18 of May because we're recording four brand new episodes of Mrs Browns Boys," she said.

"We'll also be doing the Christmas special which will be recorded in October. I'm not sure when these four new episodes will go out, I'd imagine it'll be September or October time but I don't know."

Eilish said she hopes the show's Christmas specials will continue long into the future. She said: "We obviously love doing it and I love waiting for it to come on telly the only time I actually get to see the end result is on Christmas Day when I sit down with Marion and we watch it.

"Well, I watch it from behind the door," she joked. "I can watch it when they do the repeats but I find out very hard to watch initially."

The 70-year-old is preparing for her play 'Live, Love, Laugh' to kick off at the Viking Theatre this Wednesday. The play reflects on her eventful life that includes a strict Catholic upbringing, two failed marriages, and coming out as a lesbian at the age of 50.

"It's a story about a woman's life that happens to be mine but this could be any woman's story... On the whole, it's a fun, fun play," she said.

"I'm always nervous. I've had broken sleeps for the past week and I'm nervous I might forget something. But what usually happens, after the first five minutes, is that I settle into it and become much more relaxed."

Tickets for 'Live, Love, Laugh' cost €20 and can be purchased here.
