Mrs Brown's Boys star Eilish O'Carroll admits to being 'allergic' to her family after touring with them

Mrs Brown’s Boys star Eilish O’Carroll has revealed she doesn't talk to her family after they finish touring.

Eilish – who plays Winnie McGoogan on the show – works with her younger brother and show creator Brendan, her nephew Danny, niece Fiona, and niece-in-law Amanda Woods on the BBC series.

The Dubliner told Brian Kennedy and Katherine Lynch on their Around The World In 80 Gays podcast: "I don’t hear from anybody when I’m not on the road. And that’s family."

When asked if she liked that, she admitted: "I do and don’t because I work with my nephew and my niece and my niece-in-law and my brother so I have to make a point of phoning them to make sure they are okay.

"You have to separate when you’re working. When you’re working, they’re not my niece or my nephew and we’re actually working. Outside of that, you are. The family relationship is there."

She admitted to being "allergic" to her family after intensely touring with them, adding: "You’re actually allergic. You’re like, 'I don’t want to see any of you.’

"But then after a while, when you’re about five or six weeks away from it, you think ‘I must phone Fiona’.

"I do like to keep in touch."

Last year, Eilish opened up about her pride for her niece Fiona when she took part in RTE’s Ultimate Hell Week and faced a series of gruelling challenges.

Speaking on the Six O'Clock Show, Eilish said at the time: "I'm bursting with pride because she's showing her vulnerability.

"I think audiences really appreciate that because you bring the human touch - people can all relate to that. We're all vulnerable.

"We spend so much time in our lives trying to cover it up and trying to be strong.

"You know, 'I can't show this' and 'I can't show that'. I love Fiona for that. I really admire her, she's an amazing woman. I absolutely adore her."
