Mrs Brown's Boys could return as full series of episodes

A Mrs Brown's Boys star has confirmed that show creators are in talks to bring back the hit Irish comedy for regular episodes.

Eilish O'Regan, who plays Winnie McGoogan on the show, has got fans excited as she teases the possibility of the show returning as a full series of episodes. The actress, who is show writer Brendan O'Carroll's sister, did lament that nothing has been confirmed about the show's potential return just yet.

Speaking to Ireland AM, Eilish said: "There are mumblings of another four episodes of Mrs Brown’s Boys itself but it hasn’t been confirmed yet.

"If it happens I’ll get very excited, but if it doesn’t happen I won’t be upset."

Previous reports suggested that filming for the show would be taking place in April 2022, but Eilish confirmed that no filming has taken place.

Mrs Brown's Boys has not aired as a proper series since 2013 but did see a surge in popularity last year when the Christmas Day special episode attracted around 526,000 viewers on RTE.

However, its New Year’s Day special saw fewer fans tune in, attracting 414,000 viewers on the night.

Meanwhile Dermot O’Neill, who plays Grandad, told the Irish Sun in April of this year: "If there’s filming going on, I haven’t heard about it yet.

"I can't see it happening before the tour because I don’t see how we’d have the time.

“If we were doing a mini-series, we’d be out there rehearsing it now because it takes time to prepare."
