MrBeast celebrates 100m YouTube subscribers by ‘giving away a private island in Squid Game style challenge’

MrBeat, the hugely popular YouTuber, has hit another impressive milestone, as he’s celebrated reaching 100 million subscribers on his main channel.

In a statement, MrBeast (aka Jimmy Donaldson), said: “100 million means so much. I’ve been making videos since I was 11 years old. This number in a way represents everything I’ve ever done in my life and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s ever watched a video. I hope to do YouTube until the day I die.”

In a tweet, he added, “Also I just want to say that no matter how big I get I’ll never own a mansion, yacht, Lamborghini etc. All I want is to make the best videos possible and help as many people as I can while doing it ❤️”

In order to celebrate the milesone, Mrbeast plans to release new merchandise via an exclusive shoppable livestream on YouTube, as well as uploading his most expensive videos ever on August 4.

He also reportedly gave away a private island in his most “insane” video yet, bringing back one of his most viral ideas ever in the process.

MrBeast uploaded his highly-anticipated video on August 4, in which he flew out 100 of his subscribers to compete for a private island he’d reportedly bought just for this occasion.

The contestants had to undergo four gruelling challenges — one of which brought back the ‘Red Light, Green Light’ challenge from his uber-popular Squid Game video.

The competition ended with the remaining participants finding a hidden Play button buried on the island.

After the winner finally uncovered it, MrBeast showed off the shiny red trophy to his fans and thanked them for “over a decade” of his life on the platform.

At only 24, the YouTuber is estimated to be 2021’s highest-earning YouTuber, earning $54 million in the last year.

He’s also number 5 on the list of most-subscribed YouTube channels, after T-Series (221 million), Moonbug’s Cocomelon (139 million), SET India (138 million) and PewDiePie (111 million).

MrBeast first began uploading videos to his YouTube channel in 2012, before gaining mainstream popularity in 2018, when he started regularly posting videos in which he gave away large sums of money to strangers.

In 2019, he had the most-liked creator video, and in 2020, he finished the year as the top most-subscribed creator in the US.

MrBeast’s YouTube empire spans 18 channels including, the main MrBeast, MrBeast Shorts, MrBeast Gaming, Beast Reacts and Beast Philanthropy.

Overall, he has more than 215 million subscribers as well as over 30 billion views.
