East Kilbride YM football club were given a boost during their centenary anniversary season with a mention in parliament.
The town's MP Dr Lisa Cameron noted the historic work done by the local amateur club to promote football in the East Kilbride community in an Early Day Motion.
The award also commended the unprecedented success of the club in their 100 year history, and recognised EKYM’s Greater Glasgow Premier side's recent treble success winning the league title, Presidents Cup, and the Bobby Thomson Challenge Cup in their centenary year.
The team closed an astonishing season – in which they won 30 games and lost just four, including a penalty shootout loss in the Amateur Cup last 16.
And they scored an impressive 129 goals along the way.
Dr Cameron presented a framed copy of the motion to the club at their ground on Kirktonholme pitches.
EKYM manager Graeme Robertson said: "It was a pleasant surprise when Lisa Cameron MP turned up at the pitches with a framed motion for the team.
"This is the first treble win by the YM so it's great our Greater Glasgow team won it on the centenary season. They've had a fantastic season - unbelievable - it's a fantastic success for the club.
"Lisa has been a big supporter of EKYM and was a driving force in us getting Kirktonholme pitches."
East Kilbride YM Football Club are the oldest and most successful club in East Kilbride.
They currently have four adult teams competing in the Caledonian, Scottish Amateur Football League, Greater Glasgow Leagues and Central Scottish Over 35s as well as under-17s and under-19s.
The club has marked their centenary season with a number of events throughout the year with football festivals, speaker's dinners, golf trips and even a team trip to Benidorm.
The EK MP showed her continued support for the club by sponsoring one of its stadium boards for the upcoming season.
She also presented a number of fundraising items from Old Firm sides Rangers and Celtic and the Scotland national team for use in their fundraising dinner later this season which former Scotland and Celtic manager Gordon Strachan will appear at.
Dr Cameron said: "I was delighted to continue my support of East Kilbride YM by sponsoring one of their stadium boards for the current season, along with presenting them with an Early Day Motion I tabled at Westminster to acknowledge their unprecedented success on and off the pitch.
"I was also delighted to present them with a number of items for their fundraising night later this year.
"The club has been an integral part of the East Kilbride community for many years and I have no doubt they will continue to go from strength to strength."
