Moving footage shows family reunion at Dublin Airport as mum and child flee war in Ukraine

This is the poignant moment a mum and son who fled the war in Ukraine were reunited with the rest of their family in Ireland.

Ukrainian woman Kristina, 30, and son Artem, 8, finally arrived in Ireland on Tuesday evening after a dangerous journey spanning three countries.

Kristina, who is eight months pregnant, and Artem had to say a heartbreaking goodbye to her husband and grandmother before they made their way to the Slovakian border and then to Poland.

And after nearly two weeks of trying, the pair touched down in Dublin on Wednesday evening with her mum and stepdad who flew to Poland to bring them home.

The footage, shared with Dublin Live by Kristina's stepsister Jade, shows the family walking into arrivals with little Artem wrapped in the Ukrainian flag.

Jade said: "Poor Kristina is going to need so much help she’s in a bad way. We just hope the baby will be okay.

"Artem is doing good. He was delighted with the things that people have donated so that kept him busy."

Kristina managed to get in touch with Ruslan on Wednesday morning but has had no contact with Oksana who last they heard was hiding in a basement with another family.
