Did they get it right?
After revealing their predictions for how the 2022 season will unfold yesterday, the Mountain West football media today announced its collective picks for the official preseason all-conference team.
The selections aren’t without minor bits of controversy, however: Boise State quarterback Hank Bachmeier wasn’t even on the ballot, while the Coloradoan’s Kevin Lytle noted that only one player was nominated for a particular position (while he did not specify who that was, it is likely tight end Tanner Arkin).
Five players make a repeat appearance on this 2022 squad after making the cut in 2021, as well. San Diego State leads the way with eight overall selections, while Fresno State is right behind with five and Boise State landed four. The four teams without representation on this year’s preseason all-conference team are Hawaii, UNLV, Utah State, and Wyoming.
