The Rhigos Mountain Pass in Treherbert has closed as people across Wales woke up to a blanket of snow on Wednesday morning. More snow has been predicted to fall throughout the day, with a Met Office yellow warning in place for most of Wales.
The A4061 Rhigos Mountain Pass is closed due to snow from Rhigos Road, Hirwaun Industrial Estate to Treherbert, according to traffic monitoring website, Inrix. The announcement that the busy road was closed came at just before 7.15am this morning. A large number of schools across the Rhondda Cynon Taff area have also closed, which you can see a full list of here.
Queueing traffic has also been reported on the A49 over Caerphilly Mountain from Capel Gwilym Road to Waunwaelod Way as it is "impassable due to snow", Inrix reports. There are two different yellow weather warnings for Wales. A warning for ice in south Wales is n place, as well as warnings for snow in north Wales on Thursday and Friday, from 3am on Thursday until 6pm on Friday.
