Motorists are being warned over weekend road closures on a busy route through Ayrshire later this month.
Roadworks will take place on two sections of the A713 Ayr to Dalmellington Road, starting on Saturday, July 30.
The works are expected to take five weeks to complete and weekend road closures will be in place at two locations.
Ayrshire Roads Alliance say the scheme will involve removing sections of the existing road surface, deep patching, laying a base course, adjusting ironware, laying a new surface course and renewing the associated road markings and studs.
To ensure the safety of the roads operatives and the travelling public, weekend road closures will be required.
Location 1: A713 between Polnessan and Main Street, Patna, is due to start on July 30 and will continue for up to two weeks.
Some preparatory work will be undertaken during weekdays with convoy traffic management in place and delays are possible.
To lay the new surface course, it is anticipated that two weekend road closures will be required on July 30 and July 31; and Saturday, August 6 and Sunday, August 7.
The road will be closed from 8am until 6pm on each Saturday and Sunday, when signed accordingly.
The travelling public will be able to go through the work site between 12noon and 1pm each day.
An alternative route will be signed as follows:
For high-sided vehicles, via A713 through Hollybush; B742 to Coylton; A70 to Coalhall; B730; B7046 to Mote Toll; A70 to Dettingen roundabout, Cumnock; A76 to New Cumnock; B741 to Dalmellington; Gateside Road; Broomknowe; Gateside Road and vice versa.
All other vehicles will be diverted via the A713 through Hollybush; B742 to Coylton; A70 to Dettingen roundabout, Cumnock; A76 to New Cumnock; B741 to Dalmellington; Gateside Road; Broomknowe; Gateside Road and vice versa.
Location 2: A713 south of Hollybush between Smithson Farm and Holehouse Cottages. Is due to start on Saturday, August 13 and will continue for up to three weeks.

Three weekend road closures will be required to lay the new surface course.
It is anticipated that the road will be closed on August 13 and August 14; Saturday, August 20 and August 21 and Saturday, August 27 and August 28.
The road will be closed from 8am until 6pm each Saturday and Sunday, when signed accordingly.
An alternative route will be signed via A713 through Hollybush; B742 to Coylton; A70 to Coalhall; B730 through Drongan to rejoin A713 and vice versa.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times throughout the duration of the works. Electronic message signs will be placed on the A713 to inform the travelling public of each weekend road closure.
In addition, there will be a reduced bus service in operation during the weekend road closures.
