Motorists urged to plan ahead with section of A82 to close for tree felling works

Drivers are urged to plan ahead, with works set to get underway on a busy stretch of the A82 between Balloch and Renton later this month.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland are undertaking essential tree felling works on the A82 southbound between Stoneymollan Roundabout and Renton from 8pm on Monday November 21 until 6am on Friday November 25.

A contraflow will be in operation on the A82 between Stoneymollan and Renton for the duration of the works. The A82 southbound carriageway will be closed and traffic for both the A82 southbound and northbound will run on the northbound carriageway.

Total closures of the A82 southbound and northbound carriageways between Stoneymollan Roundabout and Lomondgate Roundabout will be required to install and remove the contraflow, and signed diversions will be in operation. These total closures will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am on November 21 and November 24.

Traffic wishing to travel southbound during the complete southbound carriageway closures will be diverted via the A811 and the A813, and traffic wishing to travel northbound during the complete northbound closures will be diverted via the A813 and the A811.

A spokesman for Amey said: “This scheme, with a value of £50,000, will benefit around 5,920 vehicles using this route each day, by reducing the risk of dangerous trees causing disruption to road users and local residences.

“We thank road users for their patience and co-operation whilst these works take place.

“Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

“Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 guidance.

“All schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.”
