Motorists face diversion of over 50 miles due to road works on A85 near Crieff

Motorists planning to travel overnight on a stretch of the A85 between Crieff and Lochearnhead next week will face a diversion of over 50 miles as road surface improvement works take place.

Just over 700m of the route is to be resurfaced beginning on Thursday, June 9.

The work is expected to take place over two days and two nights, with all works completed by 5am on Tuesday, June 14.

No works will take place on Saturday, June 11.

The schedule of works will start on the A85 east of Comrie Croft from Thursday, June 9 to Friday, June 10, from 7am to 7pm on both days.

To protect roadworkers and road users, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours.

Then workers will move on to the A85 approach to A84 junction from Sunday, June 12 to Monday, June 13, from 8pm to 5am on both nights.

To allow the works to be completed safely, a road closure will be in place in Lochearnhead at the A84/A85 junction during working hours.

A signed diversion route will be operated heading through Dunblane, using the A85, A822, A823, A820 and A84 roads.

Amnesty periods will be provided at 9pm, 10pm, 12am, 2am and 4am when traffic will be escorted through the site using a 10mph convoy system.

Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours. Speed is limited to 30mph.
