A 17-mile road diversion will be put in place from next week to allow road and footway resurfacing works in Blairgowrie and Rattray.
Daytime road closures will also be enforced with road resurfacing to be carried out from November 17-24 on the Boat Brae, and Wellmeadow areas of the town.
Footway works between Haugh Road, in Rattray, and the bridge over the River Ericht will then follow, beginning on Monday, November 28 and scheduled to last for five days.
During the Boat Brae, in Rattray, and Wellweadow phases traffic will be diverted via the A926 Alyth Road, B954 to Meigle, A94 to Coupar Angus and the A923 Coupar Angus Road to Blairgowrie, and vice versa.
During work on Boat Brae the junction of Balmoral Road will be closed, and the diversion will be via Hatton Road, with a 20mph speed limit introduced on the diversion and traffic chicanes temporarily removed. During the Wellmeadow and Commercial Street phases the diversion will be via Terminus Street and Back Brae.
With increased traffic congestion expected a traffic management operative will be in place to manually control the lights during the closure times to minimise delays.
The work on Boat Brae will extend from the bridge over the River Ericht to the High Street, and alongside this remedial works on the road surface at the Wellmeadow and Gas Brae will also be carried out.
Restricted road closures will be in place between 9.00am and 3.30pm on Boat Brae (November 17-19), Wellmeadow (November 20-21), Boat Brae again (November 22-23) and Commercial Street (November 24) for the road resurfacing work.
During the road closures, bus services will also be re-routed or replaced with shuttle services.
The footway resurfacing works will then begin on November 28 for five days on Boat Brae to be carried out with temporary traffic lights in operation.
The road marking contractor will follow the surfacing contractor and will endeavour to carry out as much work as possible under the closure times, but when this is not possible, they will carry out their works with temporary traffic lights or stop/go boards operating.
This may be done between 6pm and 11pm. Throughout the works, access to the Wellmeadow Car Park will be suspended to accommodate buses so services can be maintained.
During the Commercial Street phase, some bus services will be redirected to temporary stops in the Wellmeadow, adjacent to Davidsons Chemist.
Vehicle access to properties within the site extents will be maintained when the works allow, and it is safe to do so, however, delays should be anticipated.
Pedestrian and emergency service vehicle access will always be maintained.
