A car ploughed into a lamppost after trying to overtake an ambulance yesterday (Sunday). The crash happened just off the M61 on Watergate Lane in Bolton.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene after being alerted by the ambulance service. According to the M.E.N, the force said that the vehicle had tried to overtake an ambulance while driving round a bend.
It then crashed into a lamppost. Pictures from the scene showed debris from the car along the road's pavement with the lamppost taken completely out of the ground.
One photo showed extensive damage to the front of the car at the point of impact, with the windscreen badly damaged. No injuries were reported following the crash.
Police were able to confirm that the driver of the vehicle was a private driving instructor who was reported after the collision. A GMP Traffic spokesman said: "NWAS called on our patrols for assist at RTC earlier today (Water Gate Lane).
"Vehicle over took ambulance on a bend and took out a lamppost. Turns out driver was a Privateer driving instructor.
"Vehicle recovered Driver Reported."
