A motorist was left stunned after their BMW was washed out to sea on a Cornwall beach.
Rescue teams rushed to the scene after reports that a black sports car had been swept off the sands at Trevaunance Cove just before 8.30am on Sunday.
Passengers remained inside the vehicle as it was pulled from the water just under two hours later.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle has since been towed away.
The Coast Guard posted about the incident on its Facebook page, prompting scores of unsympathetic reactions.
One social media user wrote: “Ah, the silly season has well and truly arrived.”
Another added: “Did someone forget to tell the tide that BMWs can park anywhere they want?”
