Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on main road into Bristol

A motorcyclist has suffered serious injuries in a collision with a car being driven along a main road on the edge of Bristol this morning.

The collision involved a car and a motorbike at 11.20am on London Road, the main A420 in Warmley, near Kingswood.

Police and paramedics attended the scene and the road was closed for around an hour and a half, between the Midland Spinner and the old railway cycle path, while the emergency services dealt with the scene and attended to the injured motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist, who has not been named, was taken to hospital by ambulance, and the road closure brought long traffic jams in the Warmley, Cadbury Heath and North Common areas, east of the ring road.

A statement from Avon and Somerset police appealed for witnesses to the collision to come forward, if they have not already spoke to police at the scene.

The police spokesperson said: "We’re investigating a collision involving a car and motorcyclist which happened on London Road, Warmley at around 11.20 this morning (Monday 2 May). A temporary road closure put in place while emergency services attended the scene has now been lifted.

“The motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with injuries that are believed to be serious but not life threatening. Enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call 101 quoting log 335 of 2 May," he added.
