A motorcyclist has been hospitalised with serious injuries after crashing into a phone box. Police reported seeing the motorist, who was riding a scrambler bike make his way along Breck Road before the crash, reports Liverpool Echo.
The incident, which took place in August, has left the motorcyclist hospitalised after suffering head injuries. Onlookers at the time of the incident said they saw the motorist flip off their bike and heard cries for help on the Liverpool street.
A police cordon was then immediately put in place, blocking off parts of Breck Road, Agate Street and Fowler Street as motorists were advised to avoid the area. At the time of the crash, shocked onlookers told the Echo that the road was "dangerous".
Around nine police vehicles were seen at the scene, including several police vans and over a dozen officers were within the cordon. The motorist was then quickly rushed to hospital by paramedics where they still remain in recovery from the injuries sustained from the crash.
In the aftermath, the incident was referred by Merseyside Police to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as the injury followed recent police contact and it is now being investigated by officers.
Police are now appealing for information after analysing CCTV footage. They are keen to speak to drivers of a White Ford Transit van, a black Kia Sportage and a black Mercedes C Class who were in the area.
Officers wanted to assure people that these drivers are being considered as witnesses of the crash. Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Roads Policing Unit, said: "Since the collision officers have analysed various CCTV footage from the area and enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
"We are keen to speak to drivers of a White Ford Transit van, a black Kia Sportage and a black Mercedes C Class who were in the area, to ascertain if they have any dashcam footage of the collision or the moments prior. I would also like to reassure anyone in these vehicles that they are being considered as a witness and any information they give, could really support our investigation.
“If you were in any of these cars and recall anything from this incident, or hold dash camera CCTV footage within the vehicle, then please get in touch as you may hold information that could assist our investigation.”
