A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after a crash with a car on a major Scots road.
The incident happened on the A836 in Castletown, Caithness at around 3.15pm on Tuesday, June 14.
It involved a BMW R1100 motorcycle and a Skoda Karoq.
The 39-year-old was rushed to Caithness General Hospital with what has been described as life-threatening injuries.
He was later transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The driver and the passengers of the car were not injured.
The road was closed for around eight hours to allow for crash investigation and for vehicle recovery to occur.
Sergeant Ewan Calder of North Road Policing said: “At this time, we are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances.
“We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have dashcam footage that may help with our enquiries to get in touch.
"Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2072 of 14 June, 2022.”
