A motorbike rider has been arrested after an eight-year-old boy was killed when he, his father and brother were knocked down at a pedestrian crossing in Plumstead.
The boy’s father remains fighting for his life in hospital following the collision, which also left his 10-year-old brother seriously injured.
An air ambulance was scrambled to the scene in Plumstead Road around 7.30pm on Sunday, along with police and road ambulances, following reports three people had been hit by a motorbike.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics one of the pedestrians, the eight year-old boy died at the scene.
His family are being supported by specialist officers, said the Met Police.
A Scotland Yard spokesperson said on Wednesday: “A man, aged in his 40s, and a 10-year-old boy, who were crossing the road together with the younger boy, were taken to hospital suffering serious injuries.
“The man remains in a life-threatening condition but the ten-year-old’s condition is no longer life-threatening.”
The 20-year-old rider of the motorbike was also taken to hospital, where he remains in a condition that is not desribed as life-threatening.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
